Thankful for Freedom

It’s the 4th of July, and I’m enjoying reading my brand new bible in the light of the summer afternoon. I’m especially thankful that I can do this, in public, without fear. It would be a shameful thing, if in the middle of our complaints about the government and the economy, we forgot to be thankful for the freedom we have in this country.

Did you know that more Christians are persecuted today than in any other time in human history? In the majority of the world, it is dangerous to follow Jesus Christ. Right now, thousands of Christians are being forced to flee Syria. Christians in China are worshiping secretly underground, because they can be incarcerated for doing so. In Nigeria and Pakistan, Christian men, women, and children are being murdered in the streets. “Death to Christians” is scrawled on the city walls with spray paint.

Pray for people living in fear for their lives because of their faith. And thank God if you are free from religious persecution.
